The Deal Reports: “Pellegrino Joins Abacus Life After Leaving PBI”

Vincent Pellegrino is the new vice president of capital markets for Abacus Life Inc. (ABL).

He joined the Orlando, Fla.-based life settlement provider this month, according to his updated LinkedIn profile.

“We are excited to have Vinnie join the team. He is a long-time industry veteran and brings a wealth of experience to our team,” Abacus CEO Jay Jackson said in an email.

He said Abacus, which has filled two other executive positions recently, is up to 94 employees. The firm hired Christopher Romaine as general counsel earlier this month and Seth Miller as chief revenue officer in August.

Pellegrino, who previously held other positions in the life settlement market, most recently was the new business development manager for Pension Benefit Information LLC for more than five years. PBI, an audit and address research firm that is part of Longevity Holdings Inc., recently faced a major data breach.

In his position at PBI, Pellegrino’s profile said he helped pension funds stop over-payments, reduce fraud and find missing participants to help maintain solvency and compliance within their funds. Pellegrino was not immediately available for comment.

He previously was director of business relations for Extropy Capital LLC, an asset manager for longevity-linked products, in the New York City area for one year starting in June 2017.

He also was the director of the longevity markets group for Credit Suisse Group AG for almost six years through February 2012, where he negotiated the purchase of more than $3 billion in life insurance policies through financial advisers, his profile said.

Pellegrino also held other positions at Prudential Financial Inc., VSP Capital Partners, Global Financial Distributors Inc., Premium Funding Group LLC and AIG Credit Corp., his profile said.
